Bruton Young Design 

I specialise in both contemporary and traditional architecture with a particular emphasis on good contextual design. Based in Gloucester I'm especially known for my close links with small local contractors as well as working comfortably alongside major UK house builders and larger commercial developers. I undertake most of our project work in the South West, but will consider other projects within the UK. With my experience of designing commercial projects, large volume housing estates, as well as bespoke individual houses and extensions I have developed a language and style which gives my buildings a comfortable yet contemporary feel.

​Small Residential - The professional advice I offer in this field is drawn from experience gained working on many varied small residential projects, from one off houses on prestige sites in rural settings, to small & medium size extensions to semi-detached houses on post war housing estates. No project is too small to be important. First and foremost, I understand the need to relate and respond to residential clients on an individual basis; working on what after all is most individual’s most valuable possession, whilst providing carefully considered site sensitive solutions. I am familiar with all aspects of the process, including the complexities of the Planning process, Building Regulations and the Party Wall Act.

Large Residential - The professional advice I offer in this field is drawn from experience gained working on many varied medium sized mixed use contemporary residential projects of typical 200-400 unit size. I have experience of working alongside some of the UK's major house developers & house builders to provide a full service from concept and master planning, right through to site supervision & completion on site. I am able to acknowledge and introduce all relevant consultant expertise at each project stage wherever necessary. I am familiar with all aspects of the process, including the complexities of the local planning system, CABE presentations & reviews, NHBC reviews & approvals and dealing with complex aspects.

Commercial - I have experience of master planning for large contemporary mixed use business parks; and large mixed use residential & retail projects.
I have designed and project managed multiple warehouse, office and small leisure developments; as well as some higher profile projects such as new bespoke car dealerships.
